A simple and gentle 5-inch plate made by Annan-te

The soft brown glaze gently envelops the entire piece, giving it a calm appearance.
The butterfly and horse motif in the center adds a touch of playfulness.

The seemingly contradictory elements of "calmness" and "fun" are gently harmonized, and both the horse and the butterfly have a relaxed appearance that will make you smile when you hold them in your hands.

It can be used as a side plate, as well as for Japanese sweets and baked goods such as dumplings and manju.
It would also go great as a quick snack using sweet potatoes.

This 5-inch plate, featuring a picture of a horse, the zodiac sign for next year, is perfect for the New Year's table.
It can also be used as an auspicious piece to welcome the new year in a bright and cheerful mood.

These works have the warmth that is unique to Annan-te.

Every time you pick it up, it gives you a sense of comfort, as if time is passing slowly.

Matoba Miyuki

Matoba is originally from Okayama Prefecture and currently makes pottery in Kyoto.

He loved drawing from a young age and majored in oil painting at university.

He first encountered pottery in his university days when he was a member of the pottery club. The more he made, the more he became fascinated by the depth of the art, and he went on to study further at Kyoto Prefectural Pottery Technical College.

His current style is characterized by the soft, flowing glaze.
Matoba says, "I love the scenery that the glaze itself creates," and he was attracted to the Annan-te technique and incorporated it into his work.

The designs are said to be inspired by old vessels from various parts of Asia.
Using the Annan-te technique, which evokes a nostalgic, antique feel, Matoba's pieces are elegant yet somehow endearing and cute, a charm that is unique to her.

These pieces convey the idea that "we want to create tableware that is fun to look at and use," and they gently add color to your life.
