Atelier MOON
Horiuchi Mutsumi
Ms. Horiuchi of Atelier MOON, who creates works in Hokkaido.
The origin of her rag weave coaster making dates back 35 years, when she purchased a loom.
Initially, she taught herself weaving and enjoyed the process of creation itself.
Eventually, this "liking" grew, and she began exhibiting her works at handmade events.
Later, inspired by a request from a general store, she started making rag weave coasters about 12 years ago.
She tears a piece of fabric into strips, and then meticulously weaves each strip as a weft thread.
These coasters are born from an incredibly time-consuming process, with each step carefully executed.
In their soft appearance, you can feel the traces of reliable craftsmanship, and with every use, the maker's sincerity and warmth are conveyed.
