Hand-woven coasters with delightful textures
These are the torn-fabric coasters from Atelier MOON, carefully woven from thin strips of fabric.
With linen for the warp and cotton for the weft, their charm lies in the shadows and depth created by the different materials.
The neat form and the overlapping colors created by the warp and weft evoke the beauty of Atelier MOON's craftsmanship and good taste.
The cotton fabric used for the weft was prepared by Atelier MOON, tearing the fabric from scratch.
The unique undulation of the torn cotton fabric gives it a cute yet profound atmosphere.
It looks soft, and it feels soft to the touch.
The linen used for the warp adds a subtle luster, giving it a touch of understated elegance amidst its cuteness.
This time, two colors that blend seamlessly into winter living have been prepared for us.
Each time you pick one up, the warmth of handmade craftsmanship quietly conveys itself, and the coaster grows more endearing with each use.
It's a piece you'll want to cherish for a long time as a household item.

Atelier MOON
Horiuchi Mutsumi
Ms. Horiuchi of Atelier MOON, who creates works in Hokkaido.
The origin of her rag-weaving coaster making dates back 35 years, when she purchased a loom.
Initially, she taught herself weaving and enjoyed the craft itself every day.
Eventually, this "passion" grew, and she began exhibiting her works at handmade craft events.
Later, inspired by a request from a雑貨店 (general store), she started making rag-woven coasters about 12 years ago.
She tears a single piece of cloth into strips, and then weaves each strip one by one as weft.
Each coaster is born from a meticulous layering of these incredibly time-consuming processes.
These pieces exude a gentle atmosphere while showcasing definite traces of skilled handiwork, conveying the creator's sincerity and warmth with every use.
