A mug that gives you the warmth of Annan's hands
Miyuki Matoba's mug has flowing, blurred lines that give it a soft feel.
This piece, which has a warm atmosphere, was made using a technique called Annan-te, which originated in Vietnam.
The surface of the vessel is engraved with lines, painted with a deep blue pigment called gosu, and then coated with a thick, easily soluble glaze, which causes the lines to gradually blur, giving the vessel a charming, tasteful texture reminiscent of a time-honored antique.
Covered in a pale brown glaze, it has a nostalgic appearance that gives you a sense of security just by having it nearby.
This mug is perfect for enjoying hot drinks such as coffee, green tea, and roasted green tea at your leisure.

Miyuki Matoba
Matoba Miyuki
Matoba is originally from Okayama Prefecture and currently makes pottery in Kyoto.
He loved drawing from a young age and majored in oil painting at university.
He first encountered pottery in his university days when he was a member of the pottery club. The more he made, the more he became fascinated by the depth of the art, and he went on to study further at Kyoto Prefectural Pottery Technical College.
His current style is characterized by the soft, flowing glaze.
Matoba says, "I love the scenery that the glaze itself creates," and he was attracted to the Annan-te technique and incorporated it into his work.
The designs are said to be inspired by old vessels from various parts of Asia.
Using the Annan-te technique, which evokes a nostalgic, antique feel, Matoba's pieces are elegant yet somehow endearing and cute, a charm that is unique to her.
These pieces convey the idea that "we want to create tableware that is fun to look at and use," and they gently add color to your life.
