Annan-style mugs that combine nostalgia and modernity

It's a deep denim-like blue, with a tasteful vintage brown finish on the opening and handle.
Its unique worldview, which exudes a sophisticated adult coolness amidst its sweetness, is what makes it so appealing.

The designs, based on old tableware from various countries, mainly in Asia, have an antique feel, yet are somehow familiar.

This is an expression that is truly unique to Mr. Matoba.

It blends well with the brown sofa and the texture of the wood, making it the perfect place to spend some time relaxing and reading a book.

This is a piece that will make you want to take your time and gaze upon the glaze in your hands at those moments when you suddenly feel like spacing out and not thinking about anything.

Miyuki Matoba

Matoba Miyuki

Matoba is originally from Okayama Prefecture and currently makes pottery in Kyoto.

He loved drawing from a young age and majored in oil painting at university.

He first encountered pottery in his university days when he was a member of the pottery club. The more he made, the more he became fascinated by the depth of the art, and he went on to study further at Kyoto Prefectural Pottery Technical College.

His current style is characterized by the soft, flowing glaze.
Matoba says, "I love the scenery that the glaze itself creates," and he was attracted to the Annan-te technique and incorporated it into his work.

The designs are said to be inspired by old vessels from various parts of Asia.
Using the Annan-te technique, which evokes a nostalgic, antique feel, Matoba's pieces are elegant yet somehow endearing and cute, a charm that is unique to her.

These pieces convey the idea that "we want to create tableware that is fun to look at and use," and they gently add color to your life.
