Refined Beauty in Mukozuke
"Minawa"
This piece is made of clear glass that is crisp and refreshing.
The air bubbles inside are fantastic, like water bubbles. Combined with the unique undulations of blown glass, it's as if you're being invited into a world of water.
Minawa, at first glance simple, yet distinctly reflects Nakamura's style.
When you peer into it, the flower-like shape at the bottom immediately catches the eye, and the charm that is characteristic of a female artist makes your heart flutter.
The way it sparkles when it catches the light is so beautiful it can soothe your soul just by gazing at it.
The unique patterns of air bubbles in each piece add to the profound charm that is characteristic of handcrafted items.
Its moderate size, about 11cm wide, is perfect for seasonal fruits or desserts like ice cream.
Also great for sashimi or marinades.
It's a special dish that brings a refreshing touch to your dining table.

"The various color combinations and bubble patterns are only possible because of the free-blowing process. The glass melted in a small furnace contains tiny air bubbles, and the marks of the tools used to shape it remain as traces, giving it a unique character."
Maki Nakamura of Maki Glass Studio is a Kyoto-based craftsman who creates tableware for everyday use and glass for architectural spaces.
During his high school years, he was impressed by the work of glass object artist Ryoji Shibuya and aspired to become a glass artist, but at the time there were no universities in the Kansai region where one could study glass, so he majored in ceramics at university.
Later, just before graduating from university, he learned that there was a glass vocational school in Toyama, and his desire to study glass was rekindled. After graduating from university, he studied glasswork creation at the Toyama Glass Art Institute's Department of Design, and honed his skills at the Toyama Glass Studio.
Nakamura, who entered the world of glass from art, has a thorough understanding of the material, and his works express the beauty of freshness and softness by making the most of it, while also providing comfort to the user as tableware, and the well-thought-out shapes are also excellent.
Nakamura's glass works add a touch of elegance to your dining table, even adding a touch of color to the shadows.
Please hold it up to the light and enjoy it.
