A round mug that brings a sense of calm and deep flavor.
A round mug by Chiaki Takeda, finished in dark brown.
Its plump, rounded, and adorable form, combined with a matte finish that suppresses gloss and a deep dark brown, creates a calm, mature atmosphere while retaining a sense of cuteness.
The uneven layers of glaze create a rich and beautiful texture with depth.
The rim, gently flared outwards, naturally embraces your lips, making for a smooth and pleasant drinking experience.
The nuanced expression of the glaze subtly spreading inwards is also delightful, further enhancing the charm unique to dark brown.
Its capacity of approximately 280ml (full) is just right, perfect for barley tea or for coffee when you want to relax.
It's an item that enriches your small daily breaks.

After entering the Department of Fine Arts at Tokyo Gakugei University, I encountered ceramics and became interested in them, leading me down the path of pottery.
After graduation, I studied under Mr. Takehiko Ito in Kasama City, Ibaraki Prefecture. Subsequently, I trained in pottery wheel techniques and glazes at the Ibaraki Prefectural Ceramic Technology Center. Then, I practiced pottery while learning Shigaraki ware at the Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park in Shiga Prefecture. After returning to Tohoku, I explored and created pottery as a research student at Tohoku University of Art and Design, and in 1999, I established my own studio in Yamagata City.
"I want to create simple, easy-to-use vessels with a soft aesthetic. I would be happy if my pieces could become companions in daily life."
Chitose Kobo's Chiaki Takeda, who deeply studied and pursued ceramics through Kasama ware and Shigaraki ware, expresses her own works in various styles such as pottery wheel, molded pieces, and hand-building.
She enthusiastically and generously explained the many processes and glaze components involved in a single vessel, and her earnest yet enjoyable approach to pottery making left a strong impression on me.
Just like Ms. Takeda's personality, her works have a gentle presence that brings a sense of calm.
Their lightness, comfort, and ease of use, which makes you instinctively pick them up, are also part of their charm.
