Gray-blue glazed vessels that reflect the various expressions of a cloudy sky

A quiet and beautiful world of gray-blue unfolds within the vessel.
It was created with the image of a cloudy sky in mind.
"It's not just a simple grey sky, it's foggy, and sometimes the fog clears and clear sky peeks through the gaps.
The areas where the glaze has pooled have the appearance of puddles that reflect the color of the sky after rain.
I have captured the various aspects of a cloudy sky in these vessels.

The 4-inch plate, with a diameter of approximately 11cm, can be used as a side dish or to serve small side dishes.
It can also be used for transparent sweets such as mizumanju and warabimochi.
The pale gray-blue pattern gently brings out the color of the ingredients.

A 4-inch plate with a gentle, ephemeral color that reflects the pale, hazy sky after the rain.

      Nozomi Nishino

Nishino, who is originally from Tokyo, graduated from Tokyo Zokei University and, wanting to further his career in ceramics, went on to study ceramics in earnest at the Tojiki Design Institute in Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture, a city known for its ceramics production.

After graduating from the institute in 2015, he gained experience at a pottery factory before going independent.
It is still produced in Gifu Prefecture today.

The gray-blue glaze used in this piece is a special glaze that Nishino finally arrived at after much trial and error.
"We have gone through many twists and turns, such as switching to safer ingredients. Currently, we use more natural ingredients and natural colors as the base.
I hope that in the end, the user will be able to understand this natural manufacturing process."
Nishino's pottery, which he creates carefully every day with warm feelings, is imbued with emotional beauty.

This piece captures the rich expression of a cloudy sky.
I hope you can feel in the palm of your hand the scenery that overlaps with the sky of that day, which remains deep in your heart.
