Soup cups that bring warmth
Ivory-like gentle, warm "white" and "unbleached," which retains some impurities and has a slightly rough texture that brings out the character of the clay, are both appealing.
The pottery of Mr. Yaguchi, who creates pottery in Mashiko, uses Mashiko clay.
When people think of Mashiko ware, they often imagine a sturdy, heavy feel, but all of Mr. Yaguchi's pieces are surprisingly lightweight.
The subtle indentation along the rim gently caresses the lips when drinking directly from the vessel, creating a pleasant sensation.
The form, with its gently raised foot, boasts beautiful aesthetics and is also thoughtfully designed to minimize heat transfer when held from the bottom.
Within their simple appearance, one can perceive Mr. Yaguchi's aesthetic sensibility, which meticulously captures the user's movements and sensations.
This is a vessel that can accompany you during those moments when you take a little time to treat yourself, like with a warm sip on a chilly morning.
