A beautiful katakuchi sake cup with a smooth shape and pale color.

Nakamura Maki's katakuchi sake cups are attractive for their clean, clear glass and soft, melting beauty.

The three colors of red, black, and reddish purple that gently shimmer from the bottom create an exquisite accent.
Combined with the tiny bubbles that form during the production process, it creates a fantastical appearance, as if paint had been dropped into water.

The petal-shaped bottom adds to its cuteness, and pairing it with a matching sake cup makes it feel even more special.

Along with carefully crafted and tasteful tableware
Enjoy a rich time that will satisfy you after a hard day's work.

"The various color combinations and bubble patterns are only possible because of the free-blowing process. The glass melted in a small furnace contains tiny air bubbles, and the marks of the tools used to shape it remain as traces, giving it a unique character."

Maki Nakamura of Maki Glass Studio is a Kyoto-based craftsman who creates tableware for everyday use and glass for architectural spaces.

During his high school years, he was impressed by the works of glass object artist Shibuya Ryoji and aspired to become a glass artist, but at the time there were no universities in the Kansai region where one could study glass, so he majored in ceramics in the craft department at university.
Later, just before graduating from university, he learned that there was a glass vocational school in Toyama, and his desire to study glass was rekindled. After graduating from university, he studied glasswork creation at the Toyama Glass Art Institute's Department of Design, and honed his skills at the Toyama Glass Studio.

Nakamura, who entered the world of glass from art, has a thorough understanding of the material, and his works express the beauty of freshness and softness by making the most of it, while also providing comfort to the user as tableware, and the well-thought-out shapes are also excellent.

Nakamura's glass works add a touch of elegance to your dining table, even adding a touch of color to the shadows.

Please hold it up to the light and enjoy it.
